Depression does not affect all people the same way. How long it lasts, how often it occurs and how bad the symptoms are depends on each person and also particular circumstances such as other illnesses, which can make depression symptoms much worse.
One symptom most people don’t realize is a result of depression is fatigue and lack of energy; it’s as if the life is sucked right out of you. When you are tired this can lead to irritability and impatience which can then cause insomnia or in some cases sleeping in excess.
Most people think of depression symptoms as the sadness, emptiness or hopeless feelings that they just can’t shake. Things once considered fun are not interesting anymore or they just don’t like doing them. Also, if it is difficult to concentrate or make decisions because of the symptoms, who want to do anything?
The main symptoms of depression can include overeating or not wanting to eat or drinking alcohol in excess to overcome the feelings of sadness. Physical depression symptoms are illnesses that can not seem to be treated such as constant headaches, upset stomach or just general aches and pains that never seem to let up. Attempting suicide or wanting to commit suicide is one of the main symptoms of depression for people that have reached the end of their desperation.
If you feel any of these symptoms, please know that there are many ways to treat this illness and it doesn’t always have to be pharmaceutical drugs or seeking the advice of a psychologist. Depending on the severity of your symptoms and what is causing them you can lead a happy life once again.
