D-Mannose for Cystitis
When I kept having returning UTI's, cystitis or bladder infections (all the same) and was doing everything to prevent them, I decided to do some research. Anyone who has had cystitis knows they just want it to go away. I hope this information helps someone else.
First thing that I did was try to find an alternative especially after I read the Cipro horror stories (see below), which I was prescribed. I knew how harmful antibiotics can be if they are used over and over and so many people had developed a resistance to them and were on more and longer therapies which often times didn't work for cystitis, but I'm here to tell you the natural alternative did. Of all the natural alternatives I research I still had not heard of d-mannose. I knew about cranberry juice, apple cider vinegar, zinc, vitamin c, e, a and d but this was new to me. Especially since doctors have used this since the 1980's when they found out about it doing research!
Even though the infection was annoying to say the least, I proceeded to try the alternative. I am happy to tell you that the pain and urgency was gone in one day, actually within hours it started to subside! This is the second day and I'm back to normal. This product truly is wonderful for those of us (mostly women) who suffer with common cystitis. Even children can use this, and our pets.
If you are in serious pain because of any possibility that the infection may have gone further than the bladder or if the infection is from a different type of bacteria that causes most cases of cystitis, see your doctor. But for those just in the beginning stages, and have had repeated problems, give this a try. You can also use d-mannose as a preventative dose for "honeymoon" cystitis and recurrent cystitis.
I've listed some links that could be helpful for others in the same situation.
I am so glad I found these websites before taking the Cipro:
